Sami: It appears C is trying to hold things in tact via the foreign financing. I am not convinced that they will be able to pull it off. IMO, C is a better value play than a dividend investment.

Best Wishes,
Dividends4Life

C is huge and difficult to manage. all the earning growth they achieved over the years was largely due to acquisitions, which is costly to shareholders. However there is value in C. If they manage to streamline operations and run effeciently then they can spin off some of their assets particularly international one it would be huge value. but that is not a pick for a dividend investor.

GE is a good company similar to C it is in every thing and every where, which makes them very steady earner. I would buy it if they spin off their financial arm, I am not too fond of that business.

GE is a very good investment in my opinion. I'm sure you read my post on the company from a few weeks ago. There are several good reasons to own GE long term. Also, the company is not expensive as Jeff Immelt has basically signed 10% EPS for 2008 in blood and the stock trades at like 17x earnings, raises their dividend swiftly every year. I also really like that they are involved in a big way in the environmental movement as well as developing market infrastructure.
