Brian: NLY was one I looked at in the past, but they weren’t always consistent in raising their dividend. Yahoo shows their dividend dropped in Dec. 2008. As a plus, since 2006 operating cash flow has quadrupled.

Doug: The inflation hedge is not enough for me to overcome most REITs financial short-comings. At some point, I may only hold REITs via ETFs to help spread the risk.

What do you think about Annaly Capital Management (NLY?)

I have been following them for a couple of years and have a small position. It has actually been a very good performer for me during that time. They were in fact one of the first of my positions to increase dividends post October meltdown.
